A Message From Our President
At the commencement of the 2020-21 season only a few short weeks ago…every member of the baseball community had their fingers crossed that the season would continue without a Covid related interruption.
The Christmas break was the first goal and thankfully we have now reached that point.
As a club we now look forward to the second half of the season.
I thank all the players and coaches for their support in adapting to Covid regulations however as we are now seeing in NSW situations can change quickly.
I also acknowledge Baseball Victoria’s excellent guidance and direction during this difficult time in our history.
From a club perspective our club has been very active so far this season both on and off the field of play.
Training attendance with our men’s program has been terrific and has transformed to generally very good on field performances.
Our Women’s team remains undefeated to this point and are looking at another finals appearance….my congratulations to the girls for their success thus far and to Rich who took on the role after Charelle laid the foundations last season and unfortunately was unable to commit this season.
Juniors remain an integral part of our club and any enjoyment derived “win or lose”can be attributed to the team of junior coaches and their assistants at our club.
A number of junior teams have performed extremely well to this point of the season.
This year a number of junior players from our 16’s and 18’s have been selected to play in a “showcase event” at Melbourne Ball park in January.
The experience gained will be enormously beneficial to all and I wish them all the very best of luck.
Special mention to Genevieve Beacom who will also participate in a Women’s showcase event in Brisbane and Adelaide after which a National Women’s team will be selected.
Gen has always been a terrific role model for our sport and we wish her all the very best of luck.
Riley Trad also leaves our shores early January for for the US on a baseball college scholarship…best of luck Riley I personally understand how you have made this happen and admire your determination….stay safe and good luck.
I also remind members to make yourselves aware of our sponsors and support those who support us.
We have a diverse range of sponsors who have contributed enormously this season enabling our club to function effectively….please familiarize yourself with them all and refer them to family or friends given the opportunity.
In closing on behalf of the committee I extend our very best wishes to all members and their families for a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
Stay safe and look forward to seeing you all “mask free” in the new year…2021!
