In the Clubhouse – Week 4

October 26th:

Big Sunday “2” didn’t disappoint, with loads of action down at Tulip St yesterday, and across the entire weekend.

And the senior Royals teams came up trumps with all 4 senior teams winning!

In the day’s highlight, the 1s, behind great pitching performances from Spencer Jack and Terry Jeon, overcame Newport with a 3-1 win.  The 2s won 13-0, as did the 3rds 6-2, and the 4s won in a tight tussle 4-3.

While the seniors where battling it out on the field, off the field, the first Royals Club lunch of the year was a highlight, where a full house were treated to a great feed and plenty of drinks, while listening to Streety give his state of the nation address.

Guest speaker was Dan Corcoran, he gave a fascinating insight into the whole Essendon saga beautifully interview by our own Nicole Smith.  We thank the Royals Club for their ongoing support of the club, the day was a great success!

Greg Street, Sandy Club President was very proud of the performance of the senior teams on the day.  “The development of the playing group as a solid professional outfit is starting to come through, and the attitudinal change is obvious to everyone watching.  We also had a very strong showing in 2s and 3s with big results again, both teams are sitting on top of their ladders!”.

He also praised the support the club receives from its members……”So on Sunday, we had 8 games of baseball, 4 junior, 4 senior, great work by the generous group of volunteers preparing, servicing and cleaning up  grounds, facilities, canteen and luncheon. Thanks to all who helped,  it is a enormous task but very very well done again. ”

There were plenty of good results in the Juniors, highlighted by the U18 State team, who scored 7 in the first dig against Waverley, and went on to win 9-2.

All junior results are up on the BV website at:  BV Competition Management .

This weekend we again have all 4 senior teams on a road trip, playing at Geelong on Saturday.  Should be a big afternoon of baseball, if you are heading down the coast for the long weekend, pop on past and support our boys.

Note that with Junior fixtures, the most recent we have are up on the website at Junior Fixtures.  If in doubt, check with your coach or at BV Competition Management .

Look forward to seeing you down the the club during the week!
