In some great news for the club, Jordan (Jordy) Barnett has been offered and has accepted a 4-year scholarship with Maine University to study electrical engineering and to play baseball for the University commencing the year of 2018.
The offer came after Jordy’s outstanding performance at the recent Senior League World Series Tournament at Maine where Jordy excelled offensively, defensively and when given the ball, his fierce desire to compete was clearly evident.
Jordy was approached at the tournament and given a guided tour of the University of Maine.
He has been a regular selection for Victorian Junior teams and Southern Mariners teams, and this year was selected as a participant at the Major League Academy in Queensland.
At Sandringham Baseball Club, Jordy has been an integral member of the Junior program, a member of the U16 State Champions in 2014, and is a valued team member of the 2016 Royals senior team, holding down the position of shortstop.
Junior Co-ordinator and Club Vice President, Rick Wills said “Jordy continues to work hard and develop his skills further and is a regular at extra sessions at Tulip Street. His achievement is no accident.”
Sandringham Baseball Club congratulates Jordan and looks forward to watching his career develop.
