Mariners Add Sandy Junior to US-Bound Squad

July 20th:

The Senior League Mariners squad heading to the US at the end of the month for the World Series already was well represented with Sandringham Juniors, with Jackson Boyd, Taj Clayton, Jordan Barnett, Tim Lane, Harro Wills, Jai Lyttleton and Josh Meyer on the team.

However, when 2 players from the squad were selected in the Australian U15 World Cup team, which is playing at the same time in Japan, another Sandy Junior was lucky enough to get the call-up.

Will Connolly will be joining the team, flying out to Maine with the team on July 29th.

On the selection, EO Rick Wills said “The opportunity was presented to add an additional player to the Australian playing roster with the withdrawal of 2 players and Will Connolly has been selected by the coaches as the replacement player”

“Will is a handy addition to the team due his positional versatility and the fact that Will continued to train as an emergency player until the team advanced to the Asia Pacific tournament.”

“We welcome Will to the team.”

Will has been in the Sandy Junior program since Little League days, and has been a Mariner at Little and Junior League level.

We wish Will well in Maine!

Australia play their first game on August 1st at 10am US time.  You will be able to follow their progress at Senior League World Series
