Mariners go 2-0 in the Phillipines

July 12th:

The Senior League Mariners registered their 2nd win of the Asia Pacific Championships with a resounding 16-0 win over CNMI.

Rick Wills, our on the spot reporter, sent in the following update:

“The Senior League Southern Mariners representing Australia had a convincing win today over the defending title holders CNMI.

On a very hot and humid morning, the Australian team out hit CNMI behind some outstanding pitching from Jason Arthur who went 5  2/3 innings (75 pitches) with Harro Wills.

Jordan Barnett was again aggressive in the box and along with Tim Lane, Josh Meyer, Jai Lyttleton, Taj Clayton and Harro Wills all plating runs.

The game blew open in the last two innings when the Mariners went on a scoring spree and collected 12 runs behind powerful bats and a wilting CNMI defense.

The final score was 16-0.”

The tournament continues tomorrow when the Mariners take on Indonesia.
