Sandringham enjoyed their biggest win of Season ’15/16 at M.B.P. last night, crushing Newport 11-1 in 7 innings.
The win was the result of a magnificent effort on the mound by Sam Street, who didn’t give up a run, allowed just 2 hits & struck out 11 Rams in 6 innings. Sam pitched just 78 pitches with a strike
rate of 78%.
The pitching was closed by Jackson Boyd in his first appearance for the Firsts, allowing 1 walk, 2 hits, & 1 unearned run in 17 pitches.
The Royals bats came alive against Newport starter Sam Thompson and continued when he was replaced after 3.2 innings by Scott Malthouse who pitched to his brother catcher Dean Malthouse.

With 3 games to go, the Royals sit at 9 wins, 14 losses, and a draw, and 4th in their conference, 1/2 a game behind Preston in 3rd, but also only 2 games in front of Sunshine and Newport. They face off against 2nd placed Geelong this Sunday at home, and finish up with 2 more home clashes, against Melbourne and Blackburn, who are placed 1 and 2 in the other conference.
