Sandringham Royals 3 beat Waverley Wildcats 1
Sunday 15th November saw the Firsts at home, up against the Wildcats, who after a good start to the season, sat with a 4-3 win/loss record.
Waverley’s visit to Tulip Street was a tight contest dominated by pitchers – Matt Beattie & Luke Papanicolau for the Wildcats, and Spencer Jack and Terry Jeon for the Royals.
With 5 hits from each team, the difference came down to Waverley walking 3 and committing 2 errors, whilst Sandringham walked just 1 and committed 0 errors.
Best for Sandringham was Spencer Jack, who started for Sandy, going 7 strong innings, giving up only 4 hits, and 1 run. He also managed 7 strike-outs. Terry Jeon, came on in the 8th and closed out the game, giving up only 1 hit and no runs.
Offensive star for the Royals was second baseman Ryan Morris with 3 hits. Other hits were achieved by Tony Cevec and Jordy Barnett.
The Royals are now 3-5 on the season, while the Wildcats moved to 4-4.
These 2 teams face off again in a midweeker at Waverley on Wednesday.
After that, the Royals face local rivals Cheltenham, at Farm Rd on Sunday.
