Sandringham Royals 2 lost to Melbourne Demons 5
Sunday 8th November saw the Firsts at Surrey Park, up against the Demons, who currently top the table in the Victorian Summer League.
Melbourne’s pitching was lead by US import, Evan Brisintine, and competition stalwarts Andy Mann and Matthew Blackmore.
The Melbourne trio restricted the Royals to just 4 hits for the afternoon, 2 to Marco Leziac, and one each to Ryan Morris and Dave Armstrong. The Royals scored their 2 runs in the top of the 6th from an error, wild pitch and a Ryan Morris single to right field.
Terry Jeon, Brayden McConkey and Spencer Jack pitched in turn for the Royals and allowed 10 hits over the afternoon. The Demons got their runs early, scoring 2 runs in the 2nd, 1 run in the 3rd. They later scored 2 runs in the 7th to close down any chance of a rally.
The Demons demonstrated why they are the competition front runners, with a classy pitching and hitting performance, and they remain unbeaten for the year so far, while the Royals are now 2-5 on the season and face Waverley at home this Sunday.
