Your Winter Royals team hosted Dingley in a top of the table clash last Saturday.
Staving off problems in the first after their lead-off hitter got to third with none out the Royals waited until the second innings before hitting the scorecard.
A first pitch bomb into the left field trees with a man on saw one of our new players make a startling debut for the Winter team. Adam Diamond was on fire and launched a second at bat rocket which was sadly caught on the cones at left field. David Housden also took a pitch to very line only to fall agonisingly short.
We skipped out to a 6-3 lead on the back of some good hitting and smart base running.
Ben Kaplin was again having a good day on the hill striking out numerous Dingley hitters.
This week our relief pitching didn’t go that well in the cold and blustery conditions. A number of errors , walks and the odd hit saw Dingley take a comfortable 10-6 lead into the bottom of the last.
Batting from our 8 slot the Royals hitters were patient and fussy drawing a number of walks and forcing Dingley into a couple of errors. At 10-9 we saw our momentum stall when two shots were drilled at third base who fielded both for force outs to end our charge.
Only slightly disappointing as we realise that we had their measure and will work hard to revers the result next time around. We still sit second on the ladder with a 2 – 1 record.
We are at home this weekend the 11th May v Mornington.
