June 2nd 2015:
On Tuesday night, the club had a meeting to elect it’s office bearers for the upcoming season.
The Club is pleased to announce that Greg Street was re-elected as President of Sandringham Baseball Club.
Tony Beaumont was re-elected as Vice-President of the club.
Graham Trad was re-elected as Secretary, Julie Lane was re-elected as Treasurer.
General Committee positions were filled by Andrew Flynn, Gary Seignor, Grant Budge, Mark Ferguson, Michael Socic, and Rick Wills
In his address to the meeting, Greg Street thanked the attendees for their strong showing of support for himself and the committee. This is the 5th year that Greg has been president of the club, and he told the meeting that while the club was in a good position both off and on the field, still plenty of work was required to make the club permanent fixture in Division 1.
“The club has had its best performance in Division 1 in many years, and we are particularly encouraged by how well the club finished off the season”, he said.
“We are pleased to announce that the senior coaching panel of Matt Sheldon-Collins, David May, and Tim Ballard has been reappointed for the next season”.
“The junior program is showing great promise, as shown by the U16 premiership last year, and the number of Southern Mariners and State representatives produced. Rick Wills is in the process of finalizing the junior coaching panel for next season, and we are also looking to appoint a Junior Pitching Coach, to provide specialised training for our U12s, 14s and 16s in the coming season. ”
Greg also pointed out the need for more help from the club membership. “We are a club which needs the support of it’s membership to volunteer time and expertise to make it run smoothly. In the coming year, we are specifically looking for help in the areas of T-Ball co-ordination, Canteen, a Chairman of Selectors for the Senior Program, an Equipment Manager, and assistants to the grounds keeper.” Anyone who is interested in helping the club in any of these areas should contact Greg at email@example.com.
A capital works program is also in plan for the coming season. “The net on the main diamond has been approved by Council to be replaced”, Greg said, “as well as getting roofs on the dugouts and batting cages.”
In closing, Greg thanked the membership for their continued support of the club, and was looking forward to a successful summer season.
