Sandringham Announces its Junior Program for 2016-17

August 24th:

With the summer season due to start in October, Sandringham Baseball Club is proud to announce its Junior Program for 2016-17.

The aim of the Junior Program at Sandringham is to provide a pathway for development of baseball skills and development of individuals in all areas of life skills.

The club caters for the very youngest players from 5 years of age through to 18-year-olds and onto Senior baseball.  Last year, Sandringham had 12 junior teams across these age groups, and indications are that we will have more in 2016-17.

Again this year there has been some further improvements made to the Junior Program that will assist in player development, provide more opportunity to play , and if players desire, greater challenges.

The pathway program for juniors starts with our T-Ball program for 5-8 year olds.  Kids will then be able to progress thru the age groups, eventually heading for our U16 and U18 programs as part of Baseball Victoria’s State and Metro League.  Kids are assessed on skills, and we ensure that all talents are catered for; those who want to progress to the high-performance programs run by the Southern Mariners and Baseball Victoria, and for those who just want to have fun in friendly environment.

Sandringham Baseball Club had 8 members of the Senior League Mariners Team that represented Australia in the Phillipines and the USA this year, as well as multiple representatives in the Little League, Junior League, State and State Schoolboys competitions in 2016.

Junior Co-ordinator and Sandringham Vice-President Rick Wills said, “Sandringham Royals are extremely proud of all the players that were selected for Southern Mariners representation, from All-Star to Minor league teams.  The Sandringham program, in conjunction with the Southern Mariners charter, will give players  through all age groups from Little League Major onwards, the opportunity  to compete at the highest level as the Senior League team did this year with a trip to the U.S.A  for the World Series tournament. “
