Once again, the hallmark of our return bout with Melbourne was how competitive all teams were.
@ Surrey Park, the 1s fought out another tight battle with the Demons, this time, however going down by a run, 5-6. Another solid outing from Lefty, backed up by Kynan and Brandon was not enough to keep the Demon bats at bay, but with some good hitting (2 hits to Brandon and Josh), the Royals managed to get back into the game late, just going down by the single run.
The 2s kept their unbeaten record start to the year, with a 7-4 win, but it wasn’t without its drama. Going down 3-0 early, the Royals fought back with 2 hits each to Matt Heller and Cam Beaumont, and then with Aiden Flynn taking control on the mound, followed up with Riley Trad closing it out, the win was put in the books after 6 innings.
@ Tulip St, in 2 tight games, the 2s gave up 4 runs late to go down 1-5, and the 4s behind great pitching performances from Ben Krieser and Stu Adams got home 2-1.
So after 2 rounds, all teams look pretty competitive, and with our import Peter Gehle arriving this week, and others players returning, we look in good shape to take on Waverley this Sunday.
